NEW KENSINGTON, PA — The community is grieving the loss of 46-year-old Jeffrey Ballard, a respected security guard at the Elks Lodge on Third Avenue, after a late-night disturbance turned tragic early Saturday morning. The incident, which began inside the lodge and spilled into the parking lot around 3 a.m., left family members devastated and authorities searching for answers.

According to investigators, the situation started when an individual inside the bar was escorted out, prompting a confrontation that escalated outdoors. Police report that surveillance footage shows Jeffrey and his younger brother, 38-year-old Steffon Ballard, involved in a physical altercation with another man. Witnesses told officers that Steffon pulled a firearm from his sock and began striking the man with it.

During the struggle, the weapon discharged unexpectedly, and the bullet struck Jeffrey in the upper left thigh. Emergency crews responded swiftly and transported him to a nearby hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he passed away from severe blood loss.
