The Linn County community is grieving the loss of 19-year-old Zayne Hannah-Gray of Lebanon, who passed away following a devastating two-vehicle crash late Friday evening. The fatal collision occurred on December 5, 2025, at approximately 9:06 p.m., at the intersection of Berlin Road and McDowell Creek Drive.
Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan reported that deputies were dispatched after a 911 call alerted authorities to a serious crash involving trapped occupants. When first responders arrived, they found a 2017 Ram 3500 and a 2002 Mazda B-Series pickup heavily damaged in the intersection.
Zayne, the driver of the Mazda, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Loved ones describe him as a young man with a bright spirit and a future full of promise, now tragically gone far too soon. His passing has left family, friends, and the local community heartbroken.
A passenger in Zayne’s vehicle was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ram 3500 was also taken to Good Samaritan with serious injuries, while an 11-year-old girl who had been riding in the Ram was airlifted to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland due to the severity of her condition.
According to investigators, the collision occurred when the Mazda approached the intersection at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at a posted stop sign, striking the Ram on the passenger side. Sheriff Duncan confirmed that alcohol was determined to be a factor in the crash. Due to the severity of the incident, the Multi-Agency Investigation Team responded to assist with the ongoing investigation.
Emergency crews from the Sweet Home Fire Department and the Lebanon Fire Department worked alongside deputies to free trapped occupants and provide lifesaving care at the scene.
Authorities are continuing to gather information and are urging anyone with knowledge about the events leading up to the crash to contact the Linn County Sheriff’s Office at 541-967-3950.
Tonight, the community remembers Zayne Hannah-Gray not for the tragic circumstances of his passing, but for the life he lived — a 19-year-old whose memory will forever be held close by those who knew and loved him.
