NOVA SCOTIA — The community is grieving the tragic and sudden passing of Joel Hurtubise, a devoted father, brother, and friend, whose life was cut short yesterday. Joel leaves behind two young children, Naomi, 10, and Rowan, 7, whose lives he cherished and nurtured with unwavering love.

Joel’s journey reflected a life dedicated to both learning and service. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from York University, attended Adam Scott CVI, and later completed the Paramedic Program at Humber College. His academic and professional pursuits spoke to his curiosity, compassion, and commitment to helping others — qualities that were evident in every aspect of his life.

Those who knew Joel remember him as a kind-hearted, intelligent, and generous individual. Friends and family say he had a rare ability to lift the spirits of everyone around him and that his laughter, warmth, and guidance left an enduring impression. At home, Joel was a devoted father, teaching, guiding, and supporting his children in ways that only a loving parent can. His loss leaves a profound void in their lives and the lives of all who knew him.

The grief is deeply felt by his loved ones, who have shared heartfelt tributes to honor his memory. One friend wrote, “I will miss you so much, Joel. I know you are safe in the loving arms of Jes.” These words echo the sorrow of a community mourning the loss of someone whose presence made life brighter for those around him.

Joel Hurtubise’s passing is a reminder of the fragility of life, yet also of the enduring impact one individual can have. His legacy — as a father, friend, scholar, and caregiver — will live on through his children, family, and all who were touched by his kindness.

In this time of profound loss, the Nova Scotia community comes together to offer support, love, and prayers for Joel’s family, hoping to bring comfort during these unimaginably difficult days. Though his life was tragically cut short, Joel’s memory and the love he shared will never be forgotten.
