FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash. — The Franklin County community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Rene Ramos-Campos, a 19-year-old whose life was tragically cut short in a single-vehicle rollover crash early this morning.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of the crash on Taylor Flats Road, just north of Birch Road. Upon arrival, Rene was found outside the vehicle and unresponsive. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities confirmed he was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Preliminary findings suggest that speed and possible impairment may have been contributing factors. The crash remains under active investigation, and officials say additional details will be shared as they become available.
As investigators work to understand what happened, those who knew Rene are focused on remembering the young man he was — someone whose kindness and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone around him.
Family and friends describe Rene as someone who could always make others smile or laugh, even on difficult days. He was known for putting people before himself, offering help without hesitation, and showing genuine care for those he loved. His presence brought light into many lives, and his absence has created a deep and painful void.
Rene was especially devoted to his family. He was a loving son who consistently supported his mother, a single parent raising seven children, and he took pride in helping care for his siblings. Those closest to him say his sense of responsibility, compassion, and love far exceeded his years.
“This loss has shaken our family to the core,” one loved one shared. “Rene always put others first. He loved deeply, laughed freely, and helped wherever he could.”
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office extended its condolences to Rene’s family and friends and reminded drivers of the importance of slowing down, wearing seat belts, and staying alert — particularly on rural roadways where conditions can change quickly. The tragedy comes as the community continues broader conversations around roadway safety, including recent fatal incidents along Highway 395.
In the wake of Rene’s passing, community members have come together to support his family during this incredibly difficult time. A fundraising page has been established to help cover funeral and memorial expenses, easing the burden on Rene’s mother and siblings as they navigate an unimaginable loss. As Franklin County mourns, Rene Ramos-Campos is remembered not for the tragedy of his passing, but for the love, laughter, and kindness he shared in his short life. Though gone far too soon, his spirit lives on through the people he touched and the family who loved him so deeply.
May Rene rest in peace, and may his family find comfort in the compassion surrounding them.
