The Virginia Tech community is mourning the sudden loss of Spencer Davis Woodson Forsling, a student who passed away early Wednesday morning after being involved in an incident with a Blacksburg Police officer responding to an emergency call. This marks the second pedestrian fatality involving a Virginia Tech student this year, following the March death of 19-year-old Franklin Zhang.

Authorities reported that Forsling was crossing the intersection of North Main Street and Roanoke Street around 2 a.m. when the incident occurred. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Forsling was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Virginia State Police has launched a full investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials have not released the name of the officer involved, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
