OVID, Mich. — The Ovid community is grieving the loss of Tyler Alexander Pease, 29, who passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Tyler was a devoted father, a loving son, a supportive brother, and a loyal friend, remembered for his generosity, kindness, and strong connections with family and friends.

Born on June 5, 1996, in Lansing, Michigan, Tyler was the son of Steven Lee and Michele Rene (Stubbs) Pease. He graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School in 2014 and went on to complete his apprenticeship in 2023, becoming a Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter with the United Association of Sprinkler Fitters Union 669.

From a young age, Tyler showed a passion for sports, beginning wrestling at age five and participating in numerous competitions through high school. In 2012, he joined the local fire department as a cadet, eventually achieving the rank of lieutenant before his retirement in 2025. Tyler also loved spending time outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing, but his greatest joy was his daughter, Mila, affectionately nicknamed Peanut.

Friends and family describe Tyler as someone who would always help others, treating strangers with the same kindness as loved ones. His warmth, loyalty, and vibrant personality left a lasting impression on everyone around him.

Tyler is survived by his daughter Mila Pease; co-parenting partner Carrie Sieffert; parents Steven and Michele Pease; sister Stevi (Doyle) Smith; grandparents Harold Pease, Janice (Linda Hooker) Pease, and Bill and Joy Wreggelsworth; extended family; friends; and his dog, Boone. He was preceded in passing by grandparents Michael Stubbs and Sue Pease, great-grandparents, and cousins Joey Hehrer, Zach Miller, and Angie Miller.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Anthony Brooks presiding. Visitation will take place at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Houghton Chapel, Ovid, MI, on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 4:00-8:00 P.M., and again on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. until the start of the service.

Tyler Alexander Pease will be remembered for his unwavering love for family, his devotion to friends, and the positive energy he brought to everyone he met. His memory will continue to be honored by those whose lives he touched.
