WILMINGTON, Del. — Heartbreak and grief now fill the Wilmington community as authorities identify 45-year-old Cleve Wright Sr. as the victim who tragically lost his life following a late-night shooting at 23rd and Carter.

Police responded to the scene late Thursday night after multiple reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they discovered Wright Sr. suffering from severe gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital, where medical teams fought to save him, but he sadly succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators say the shooting appears to have been targeted, though a clear motive remains under investigation. Detectives worked through the night, collecting evidence and searching for witnesses who may help provide answers in the unfolding case.
