Among those who lost their lives were Kelly George, 44, and four young children: Carol A. Williams, 9; Ronald H. Williams Jr., 7; Sarah K. Williams, 5; and Kelly M. Magee-Williams, 3. The suspected shooter, Ronald Williams Sr., 53, also died.<\/p>\n

According to authorities, the Winfield Police Department was dispatched at approximately 8:50 a.m. Tuesday to a residence in the 400 block of West 9th Street after receiving a 911 call from a man who reportedly claimed that he had harmed his entire family and was preparing to end his own life.<\/p>\n

Police said the individual was believed to be armed and dangerous. As officers approached the residence, they heard a single gunshot and withdrew to establish a safe perimeter around the home.<\/p>\n

At approximately 10:57 a.m., after other efforts had been exhausted, officers breached the front door and entered the residence. Inside, authorities discovered six deceased individuals.<\/p>\n

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation later indicated that investigators believe Ronald Williams Sr. was responsible for the deaths of the five family members before calling 911 and subsequently dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.<\/p>\n
