His passing marks the loss of not only a dedicated law enforcement officer but also a loving husband, devoted father, cherished son, loyal friend, and respected public servant whose commitment to protecting others defined his life.

Jacob proudly served as a member of the Massachusetts State Police after graduating from the State Police Academy in 2023 as part of the 88th Recruit Training Troop. He was assigned to the Holden Barracks, where he faithfully carried out his duties with professionalism, integrity, and unwavering dedication. Though his career with the Department was far too brief, the impact he made on his fellow Troopers and the citizens he served will never be forgotten.

In announcing his passing, Massachusetts State Police Colonel Geoffrey Noble shared heartfelt words that reflect the deep respect and admiration held for Trooper Mick:

“Together, we mourn Trooper Jacob Mick and extend our deepest sympathies to his wife, their infant daughter, his family, and all who loved him. He was a proud Trooper and public servant who never hesitated to answer the call. We remember and honor Trooper Mick’s years of service, and all he gave to the Commonwealth as well as to the Department.”

Those words capture the essence of Jacob’s character. He answered every call with courage, honor, and selflessness, placing service above self while working to keep others safe. Behind the uniform was a compassionate man whose greatest pride extended beyond his badge—to his beloved wife, his precious infant daughter, and the family who meant everything to him.

Today, our hearts especially ache for Jacob’s wife and young daughter, who now face a future without the husband and father they loved so dearly. No words can lessen the pain of such a devastating loss, but may they find comfort in knowing that Jacob’s legacy of love, honor, and sacrifice will forever surround them. His memory will live on in every story shared, every life he touched, and every act of kindness inspired by his example.

His fellow Troopers have lost a brother in blue. The Commonwealth has lost a faithful public servant. His hometown has lost one of its own. And those who knew him personally have lost someone whose kindness, dedication, and unwavering spirit made the world a better place.

As authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, we respectfully honor the family’s request for privacy as they grieve this heartbreaking tragedy. During this difficult time, let us keep the Mick family, the Massachusetts State Police, and everyone mourning Jacob’s passing in our thoughts and prayers.

Though his watch on earth has ended, Trooper Jacob Mick’s service, courage, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. His legacy will continue to inspire those who wear the uniform and all who believe in serving others with integrity and compassion.

Rest in eternal peace, Trooper Jacob Mick. Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your unwavering commitment to the people of Massachusetts.
