With profound sadness, family, friends, and members of the Virginia community are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Skylar Mackenzie Vargo, whose life was tragically cut short following a devastating crash in the early morning hours of Thursday, July 9, 2026, in Henrico County, Virginia. At just 23 years old, Skylar’s passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.<\/p>\n

According to the Virginia State Police, the tragic collision occurred at approximately 2:27 a.m. near the 28-mile marker on Interstate 295 in Henrico County. Preliminary investigators reported that a Hyundai was traveling south in the northbound lanes of the interstate when it collided head-on with a tractor-trailer.<\/p>\n

The tremendous force of the impact caused the tractor-trailer to leave its lane, cross the median, and enter the southbound lanes before eventually coming to a stop. The crash prompted a major emergency response as first responders arrived at the scene to provide aid and secure the interstate.<\/p>\n

Authorities identified the driver of the Hyundai as Skylar Mackenzie Vargo, 23, of South Chesterfield, Virginia. Following the collision, Skylar became trapped inside her vehicle, which was quickly consumed by flames. Firefighters, paramedics, and law enforcement officers worked tirelessly under incredibly difficult conditions to rescue her from the wreckage.<\/p>\n

Skylar was transported to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel did everything possible to save her life. Despite their dedicated efforts, she sadly succumbed to her injuries.<\/p>\n

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.<\/p>\n
