With profound sadness, family, friends, classmates, and members of the Salem and Yamhill County communities are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jayce Alan Hall, 19, whose life was tragically cut short following a devastating crash on Highway 18 in Yamhill County.

Jayce passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, leaving behind a community filled with sorrow and countless loved ones struggling to come to terms with an unimaginable loss. At just 19 years old, he had so much life ahead of him, with dreams yet to be fulfilled, milestones yet to be celebrated, and memories still waiting to be made.

According to the Oregon State Police, the collision occurred at approximately 2:06 p.m. on Highway 18 near milepost 58, close to Newberg. Preliminary findings indicate that the silver Honda Civic Jayce was driving was traveling westbound when it was unable to negotiate a curve, crossed into the eastbound lane, and collided head-on with a commercial motor vehicle. Jayce suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Also traveling in the Honda was 18-year-old Isaiah Jacob Aas of Salem, who sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The driver of the commercial vehicle remained at the scene, cooperated fully with investigators, and was not reported to have been injured.

The tragic crash prompted an extensive emergency response involving the Oregon State Police, the Newberg-Dundee Police Department, the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, the Newberg Fire Department, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, and the Oregon Department of Transportation. Highway 18 remained closed for approximately five hours while investigators worked to document the scene and safely reopen the roadway.

While official reports explain the circumstances surrounding the collision, they cannot fully capture the immeasurable loss felt by those who knew Jayce personally. To his family, he was a beloved son whose presence brought love and pride. To his relatives, he was a treasured family member.
