Investigators reported that a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado traveling north left the roadway and overturned after the driver lost control. During the crash, multiple occupants were ejected from the vehicle.

Kent, who was one of the passengers, suffered devastating injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Five other passengers sustained moderate injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment, while the driver also suffered injuries. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The Louisiana State Police have since announced that the driver was arrested on multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, as the investigation continues. Officials have also indicated that impairment is suspected to have been a contributing factor, with toxicology results pending.
