According to authorities, the collision occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of West Bancroft Street, between Detroit and Upton Avenues. The crash involved two Dodge Ram pickup trucks that collided with tremendous force. One of the vehicles burst into flames while the other overturned, creating a heartbreaking and dangerous scene that demanded an immediate response from emergency personnel.

Despite the heroic efforts of first responders, Richard tragically lost his life at the scene. Two other individuals were rescued and transported to the hospital for treatment. Police officers displayed extraordinary courage during the rescue, with one officer reportedly suffering melted gloves while pulling a victim from the burning truck. Their bravery serves as a reminder of the dedication shown by those who risk their own safety to save others during moments of crisis.
