In Loving Memory of Frank Thurman Lanier
With profound sadness, family, friends, and members of the Appling and Columbia County communities are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Frank Thurman Lanier, 58, whose life was tragically cut short following a motorcycle crash on Monday, July 27.
According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred shortly before 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of Columbia Road and North Old Belair Road. Authorities reported that Frank was operating his 2006 Big Dog motorcycle when it was involved in a collision with a 2018 Honda Accord.
In the moments following the crash, compassionate bystanders immediately stopped to help and began performing CPR while awaiting the arrival of emergency responders. Columbia County Fire Rescue personnel quickly arrived and continued life-saving efforts before Gold Cross EMS transported Frank to Doctors Hospital in Augusta. Despite every effort made by those at the scene and the medical team, Frank sadly succumbed to his injuries and was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office has identified the driver of the Honda Accord as 41-year-old Shalimar Shante Anderson of Evans. Authorities have announced that Anderson has been charged with Failure to Yield When Turning Left and Vehicle Homicide in the Second Degree. The investigation into the collision remains ongoing as officials continue to examine all of the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
Frank’s unexpected passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His death is a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly life can change and how precious every moment with our loved ones truly is.
