The Joplin community is mourning the loss of 30-year-old Tevin J. Patton, who was found deceased early Saturday morning following an incident at Scooter’s Bar in Danville, Illinois. His passing has left friends, family, and loved ones devastated as authorities continue working to understand the circumstances surrounding the event.
According to Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden, Patton was discovered unresponsive at the establishment in the early hours of the morning. Emergency personnel responded swiftly, but despite their efforts, he was confirmed to have passed away at the scene.
Later that same morning, Danville police took 30-year-old Trevon Lake, a Danville resident, into custody. He has been charged in connection with the incident after arriving at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. Investigators have not stated whether Lake and Patton were acquainted, and officials have not released details regarding what may have led to the tragic outcome.
The case remains active and under thorough investigation, with detectives reviewing evidence, gathering statements, and working to piece together what transpired inside the bar before Patton was found.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Danville Police Department or reach out anonymously through Vermilion County CrimeStoppers at (217) 466-TIPS.
As the investigation continues, those who knew Tevin Patton are choosing to focus on the kind-hearted and positive spirit he was known for, rather than the circumstances of his passing. His loved ones describe him as a warm, genuine, and deeply valued individual whose absence leaves an irreplaceable void.
May his memory be cherished, and may his family find strength as the community stands beside them during this difficult time.
