It is with deep sadness and heartfelt sympathy that we remember Ryan A. Lyke, 37, of Canastota, whose life was tragically cut short following a motorcycle crash in the Town of Vienna, New York, on July 22.

According to the New York State Police, the collision occurred at approximately 5:05 p.m. on State Route 13 and involved a 2022 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a 2020 Nissan Frontier pickup truck. Preliminary investigators reported that Ryan was traveling northbound on his motorcycle when the southbound pickup truck attempted to make a left turn into his path, resulting in a devastating collision.

Ryan was transported to Rome Health, where, despite the efforts of emergency responders and medical personnel, he was sadly pronounced deceased.

The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to process the scene, and authorities have stated that a drug recognition expert found no signs of impairment involving the pickup truck driver. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains ongoing.

While investigators continue their work to determine every detail of what happened, today our focus is on honoring the life of Ryan A. Lyke—a son, family member, friend, and valued member of his community whose passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
