It is with profound sadness and heartfelt sympathy that we remember Kandi Jo Heller, 44, of Slatington, whose life was tragically taken following a devastating crash in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Her passing has left her family, friends, and community mourning the loss of a beloved woman whose life ended far too soon.

According to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensic Center, Kandi Jo Heller was identified as the victim of the crash that occurred at approximately 1:06 p.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of North 6th Street and Cedar Street in Allentown.

Pennsylvania State Police reported that a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by a 24-year-old Allentown man, was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed when it failed to stop at a posted stop sign and collided with a Mercedes-Benz in the intersection. The force of the impact pushed the Mercedes into a nearby home, creating a scene of unimaginable devastation.

Authorities say the driver of the Suburban fled the scene on foot but was later located, apprehended, and taken into custody by Pennsylvania State Police. Investigators have stated that criminal charges are expected.

Both occupants of the Mercedes-Benz were rushed to a local hospital following the collision. Despite the dedicated efforts of emergency responders and medical professionals, Kandi Jo Heller sadly succumbed to her injuries later that evening. She was pronounced deceased at 9:58 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Muhlenberg.

The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office determined that Kandi died from blunt force injuries, and her death has been officially ruled an accident.
