It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we remember Jacoi Cosey, an 18-year-old from Reserve, Louisiana, whose life was tragically cut short on the evening of July 22, 2026. His untimely passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone who knew and loved him.

According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 9:38 p.m. to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Northwest First Street and Railroad Avenue in Reserve. When officers arrived, they discovered Cosey in the back seat of a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The tragic circumstances surrounding Cosey’s passing have deeply affected the Reserve community. As investigators worked diligently to determine what happened, loved ones were left grieving the loss of a young man whose future held endless possibilities.

Over the course of the investigation, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives identified three suspects in connection with the case: Brandon Blackmore, 20, of LaPlace; Tyshley Marks, 22, of Reserve; and Emanuel Rayfield Jr., 17, of Reserve. Authorities stated that all three were arrested and booked on charges of armed robbery with a firearm and second-degree murder. Investigators allege that Cosey was robbed of his firearm during the incident. Each of the three suspects was arrested on Thursday, July 23, 2026, and is being held under a $475,000 bond as the legal process moves forward.

While the investigation continues through the justice system, those who loved Cosey are focused on remembering the life he lived rather than the circumstances of his passing. He was more than the subject of a news report—he was a son, a relative, a friend, and a member of the Reserve community whose life touched many others. His smile, presence, and the memories he created with those closest to him will remain treasured forever.
