Jayland was traveling along State Route 27 near Old Americus Road when a sudden encounter with a deer set off a chain of events that ultimately resulted in a devastating crash. What began as an ordinary morning journey became a heartbreaking moment that forever changed the lives of those who knew and loved him.

According to Dooly County Coroner Brent Walls, the collision occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. Two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions on State Route 27 when a deer entered the roadway. One of the vehicles struck the animal and subsequently lost control, leading to a head-on collision with the other vehicle.

The Georgia State Patrol reported that a 47-year-old driver was operating a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado eastbound on Highway 27 when the deer entered the roadway. The driver attempted to swerve to the left to avoid the animal, but struck the deer and then collided head-on with a 2024 Hyundai Elantra.

Despite the circumstances surrounding the crash, emergency responders were unable to save Jayland. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
