In Loving Memory of Chloe Johnson
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we remember Chloe Johnson, 19, of Abbeville, Mississippi, whose life was tragically taken following a motor vehicle accident on August 14, 2026, in Lafayette County.
Chloe was far too young to leave this world. At just 19 years old, she had so much life ahead of her, so many possibilities waiting to unfold, and so many memories still to be made. Her passing is a heartbreaking reminder of how suddenly life can change and how deeply one person’s absence can be felt by everyone who knew and loved her.
According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, emergency authorities received a 911 call at approximately 4:07 p.m. Friday concerning a single-vehicle accident on County Road 103 near the intersection of County Road 104. Deputies quickly responded to the scene, where they discovered a vehicle involved in a collision on the east side of County Road 103.
Two young women were inside the vehicle. Deputies immediately worked to remove both occupants, successfully extracting them as the vehicle began to catch fire. The Lafayette County Fire Department and Baptist EMS arrived and began providing emergency assistance.
Despite the efforts at the scene, Chloe Johnson was pronounced deceased by Lafayette County Coroner Glenn Coleman.
Her death has left a family, friends, and an entire community facing an unimaginable loss.
Also involved in the crash was Chloe’s passenger, Zoe Johnson, 19, of Abbeville. Zoe was transported by Hospital Wing to Region One Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee, where she was reported to be in critical but stable condition. As the investigation continues, the thoughts and prayers of many remain with Zoe and her family as they face this incredibly difficult time.
The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene and began examining the circumstances surrounding the accident. Authorities reported that the crash appeared to involve only one vehicle and that no foul play was suspected. The cause of the accident remained under investigation, with additional information expected to be released when appropriate.
But beyond the official investigation and the details of the crash is the story of a young woman whose life mattered.
